Façade Fixing Systems

Façade Fixing Systems

What is a façade cladding system?

Façade cladding can be defined as being non-load bearing panels that are fixed to the supporting structure in some way. As they are non-load bearing, façade cladding panels should only have to support their own weight, not the weight of other panels or any other elements in the system.

For decades, our limestone panels for natural stone facades have been specified by architects in landmark projects around the world including shopping malls, hotels, museums, offices buildings and residential condominiums. From the Arctic Circle to South America, our natural stone has proven itself in all climatic conditions.

In our state-of-the-art natural stone factory we can manufacture limestone façade panels in all shapes and sizes. Convex and concave curved elements and façade panels with ornate detailing can be manufactured individually according to your specifications. Whatever the anchoring system, such as mortar anchors, undercut anchors, grooves, or the latest anchoring systems, we are able to supply the panels for any system, ready for installation. We would be happy to advise you on this.

Ventilated Facades

Ventilated facades allow the outer stone cladding panels to breathe and allows them to dry out quickly following rainfall. This facade system provides insulation and ventilation to the building.

With ventilated facades there is a physical separation between the outside of the façade and the interior wall of the building. This creates an open cavity allowing the exchange of the air contained between the wall and the outer cladding.

The ventilation between the tiles allows the natural stone façade panels to dry out quickly if they become wet. A ventilated stone facade can be anchored directly to the exterior wall with metal fixing.

Non-Ventilated Facades

When the retaining walls of a building are made from reinforced concrete, natural stone is often used as a façade cladding material due to its durability and low maintenance requirements.

With non-ventilated facades, natural stone tiles are installed with mortar or with mechanical fixing. Non-ventilated facades have a maximum tile dimension of 900 x 400 mm.
